My Next 30 Years.
Six months ago I was dreading turning 30. I am really not sure why, because I remember as a kid thinking it was weird when I heard people say that they were dreading turning another year older...as if it soley defined who they were. But there I was dreading the marker. Brilliantly my wonderful loving husband decided I needed a pick me up. I have been wanting a road bike for about 5 years now, and he thought this would be a great time to make the purchase. The anticipation of getting the bike changed everything. My focuse was now on the joy of looking forward to riding. It was all about perspective. If your anything like me it's hard to keep a good perspective sometimes. The pressures of the world, the draining daily tasks of being a mom of three small kids can at times seem to suck it all from you. When I focus my eyes on earthly things (like age) it will eventually let me down. I believe that is why Hebrews says, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith." Jesus gives hope. Hope that is lasting and pure. This year I am on the journey to pursue this HOPE that I have in Christ. I desire to understand this in a new and real way, "Christ in you, the HOPE of glory."I would love to hear your stories of HOPE.
The past couple of days I have enjoyed taking a look back at some memories from my past. Hope you enjoy...and sorry if I wasn't able to include everyone who has made the past 30 year a wonderful time of growth.
oh and don't forget to turn off the blog page sound!
With love and thanks,
Missy
p.s. oh and I almost forgot...I got the bike!

Doing What is Right...

Yesterday was a long day at work. don't get me wrong, I am so thankful for my job but I left a little overwhelmed by all the hurting people around me that day. I mean really hurting people. Life hasn't been real kind to some of them. I was thankful that it took me 20 minutes to drive home and unwind a little. I was wandering if my life even makes a difference in their lives.
When I got home there were a bunch of birthday cards awaiting me! (thanks) but the one that really touched me was from my dad. He had copied something from his devotions for me, talk about perfect timing. Here is a clip (don't report me for plagerism!- I couldn't think of another way to do this.
Doing What's Right
"Everyone who is a child of GOd conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world - our faith. 1 John 5:4
You get impatient with your own life, trying to master a habit or control a sin- and in your frustration begin to wonder where the power of God is. Be patient. God is using today's difficulties to strengthen you for tomorrow. He is equipping you. The God who makes things grow will help you bear fruit.
Dwell on the fact that God lives within you. Think about the power that gives you life. The realization that God is dwelling within you may change the places you want to go and the things you want to do today.
Do what is right this week, whatever it is, whatever comes down the path, whatever problems and dilemmas you face-just do what is right. Maybe no on else is doing right, but you do what is right. You be honest. You take a stand. You be true. After all, regardless of what you do, God does what is right: he saves you with his grace.

thanks dad!

Romans 12:2
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind..."
Just another reminder of the importance of knowing who we are in Christ. How we need to fight for our time with God so that our minds can be renewed with TRUTH.
thanks again to all of you that participated in the Chocolate Talk tonight!
