Making a Difference

If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping in a closed room with a mosquito.
- African Proverb

I was deeply moved by the church service we attended this weekend.
I'll just leave you with the major points, and brief video that we watched at the end.
Please hold me accountable and ask me if I have taken any steps lately to do my part.

The first thing that we need to keep in mind if we want to make a difference is that,
"Life isn't all about me."
I don't think we wake up each morning and actually say to ourselves, "It's all about me." But we often don't need to. Our lives and actions speak it loud and clear.

We need to use our gifts and talents to impact others.
I Peter 4:10 - " As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace."
Simply use what God has blessed me with.

Be willing to be Interrupted.
As a mom this one hit me hard. Our lives and days are pretty much made up of constant interruptions. Sometimes you would never know that I had a "plan" for the day.
But this next statement rocked my world. Made me feel as if the constant interruptions all have a bigger purpose.
Most of the miracles Jesus preformed came from being interrupted.
Maybe God is doing big things that I don't notice in those interruptions.

Proverbs 3:28 - "Don't say to your neighbor 'Go and come again, tomorrow I will give it, when you have it with you."
Phil 2:4 - "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."

Bring what you have to offer, so that we don't miss out on the Joy of being involved.
Remember the story in Mark 6:32 about the little boy who simply gave his lunch and watched in amazement as Jesus turned it into enough food for 5,000 people. He just gave what he had. I have so much to give.

God has a Vision to change the world.
Psalm 82 - "Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked."

Keep all this in mind as you watch this video.

Let's Make a difference.
I would love to hear some dialogue.

This whole month the church is challenging people to take small steps to bring our worlds closer together. Here are some of their ideas.

-carry an empty bucket one mile. Fill it with water and walk back home.
-Go 12 hours with out water.
-Fill a bag for a local food pantry
-Eat only rice and beans for 5 days.

Princess Time

Katie and I landed last minute box seat tickets to go see Disney Princesses on Ice!
(Thank you so much Kim and Chris for thinking about us!)

It brought me so much joy to see her so excited and giddy over it.
As we were sitting there watching the show, out of the corner of my eye I could see her trying to mimic the dancers movements. A couple of times she just snuggled up to me and said, "Mom I am so happy inside, I don't know what to do! This is so beautiful!"
I was so thankful to have this fun night out with Katie, in the middle of trying to settle into the new house.
(I'll have to update you on that soon)
